Buzzing Gecko Kit (Tinker Tiles)

This is a great introduction to our new Tinker Tiles range.  The Buzzing Gecko Kit enables your child to make a full project.  They can assemble the wooden lasercut pieces and paint and glue their gecko.  Next they wire it all up and adjust the motor counterweight to watch their Gecko buzz around.  Once they’re wanting something new, they can detach the tiles and battery box and reuse them to make their own projects – or, look out for more Tinker Tiles kits from us and mix the tiles up to make all sort of contraptions!

The Gecko is a standalone art project so removing the tiles doesn’t mean it’s finished.  However, at end of life, you can remove the screws from the Gecko and put the wood in a household fire or leave them to rot in the garden.

We’re excited to introduce the first in our range of Tinker Tiles kits.  The Buzzing Gecko is based on one of our many beautiful NZ native Geckos.  You can paint or decorate the lasercut wooden body with any colours you like, then glue it all together.  Flip it over and wire up our Tinker Tiles to make it all buzz around.  We have included a wooden counter weight that you can experiment with – make the Gecko hum, buzz or jump by “tuning” the wooden pieces.

After your child has had enough, they can remove the tiles and reuse them in another project such as a drawing bot.  Or make a fan.  Or whatever their imaginations and the internet can provide!  Even without the electronics, the Gecko is a standalone art project.

We will be bringing out more Tinker Tiles projects in 2020, so keep the tiles and add to your collection!

The kit includes a make your own wooden battery box (to fit one AA battery – not included), a switch tile, motor tile, wires, screws and lasercut Gecko kit.  Once we sell out, we can not guarantee delivery for Christmas but you can backorder and we will get them to you as soon as we can.
